HOW TO GET INVOLVED

IMG_9835.jpg

Leicestershire Shared Reading and Leicestershire Libraries are looking for volunteers to help run our successful ‘Make Friends, with a Book’ shared reading groups in libraries around the county. If selected to join our team, you will receive Read to Lead training from The Reader, and will then be partnered with an existing volunteer to help run the weekly group. Get in touch to find out where we currently have vacancies.

Do you find it hard to pick a good book to read?

Do you have difficulty settling into a story?

Not read anything for ages? If this is you then come along to a Make Friends, With A Book group.

We meet every week, and share a story and some poems. The volunteer Leader chooses the stories and poems and reads them to the group. We discuss, we listen, we share our thoughts if we want to. There is no homework, and nothing to prepare. It’s free and you can come as often or as little as you like. We are very friendly and light-hearted, so we look forward to welcoming you.

We have new volunteer roles for people who would like to support us and gain useful experience by sharing and developing their skills rather than leading a group. There is no training required for these roles, which we are managing in partnership with Leicestershire County Council.
